Joint Interagency Field Experiment 25-1
Stucan team with partners have been selected for the Joint Interagency Field Experiment (JIFX) 25-1 at Camp Roberts CA from 4-8 November 2024.
Stucan team will be experimenting with new technologies in the desert of Califonia, the following will be on show and tested with other participants in this year's field experiment:
Flexnet is a fully integrated, wireless Unattended Ground Sensor (UGS) system used for the detection, classification, and identification of threats and targets. It is composed of a toolbox of passive, battery-powered sensors and cameras, connected via a silent self-healing and low-power mesh radio network. The system architecture enables operators to customize the system according to their operational requirements. Through a fusion of covertly deployed sensors and cameras, threats are detected, classified, and identified without exposing the personnel or the system. The user-friendly Command and Control (C2) software, Flexnet Commander, is available for both Microsoft Windows and Android-based platforms. Flexnet scalable and customizable design allows for both standalone system deployment and integration into an existing Battlefield Management System (BMS) via the Flexnet API. Third-party sensors and devices (such as PTZ, radars, UAVs, and effectors) can be integrated into Flexnet to provide a comprehensive protection and surveillance system tailored to each situation. Flexnet devices are designed for rapid deployment and use in the field in all environments. By offering a lightweight and compact footprint for easy transportation and concealment, the Flexnet system can be easily deployed to remote areas.
The JIFX team leads experimentation in alternative methods to enable rapid technological development by cultivating a community of interest and hosting broadly scoped quarterly collaborative field events which enable DoD, the US government, and allied stakeholders to identify, influence, and accelerate early-stage technology development that addresses national and collective security challenges.
The JIFX program exists to provide an opportunity for NPS faculty, students, private companies, and academia to demonstrate and evaluate new technologies related to the Department of the Navy and the Department of Defense research in an operational field environment and also to provide the operational community the opportunity to experiment with these technologies to better understand the capabilities that they may represent.
